INPEX is currently looking for a Taxation Analyst to join our Perth based Finance team.

This tax specialist role will provide various services to joint ventures, assets, and the companies which are operated by the INPEX group within Australia.  You will work closely with Finance personnel and the wider business as a member of the Taxation team. The role has multiple internal stakeholders as well as an Offshore Delivery (OSD) team and external advisors.

Under the guidance of the Senior Taxation Advisor, the TA will help deliver taxation compliance and advisory to the assets and INPEX companies, as well as helping with revenue authority engagement, while building positive relationships with all stakeholders.

 

Key functions of the role include:

 

  • Conduct all activities in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures. Ensure the welfare of personnel and the protection of our assets and the environment.
  • Actively assisting with all compliance activities of the INPEX group assets and companies in Australia, including working with the OSD team, external advisors, as well as internal Tax Team members to ensure compliance with:
    • Income tax and tax effect accounting;
    • Petroleum Resource Rent Tax (PRRT);
    • GST / Instalments
    • Payroll Tax
    • Fringe Benefits Tax
    • Fuel taxes, Excise, and other Duties
  • Compliance activities will also extend to assisting in responses to Revenue Authorities in risk reviews or audit activities, such as the Top 100 reviews in both income tax and PRRT; and GST justified trust reviews, as examples.
  • Assisting in the preparation of position papers to enable INPEX to determine the certainty of the position on a business arrangement it will undertake, or which it has undertaken, as well as responding to ad hoc queries from business stakeholders.
  • Complying with and working within the Taxation Management System framework, as well as assist in modifying this framework as business operation’s or processes evolve.
  • Develop the relationships with external and internal stakeholders from various INPEX business divisions such as Contracts and Procurement, Human Resources, Legal and Payroll.

 

 Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

 

  • A Bachelor’s degree in either Accounting or Taxation is essential, along with studying towards either CPA/CA or a Master’s degree.
  • Some post graduate exposure in a professional services taxation environment or within a taxation environment for Exploration & Production, or mining companies would be beneficial.
  • A working knowledge of IFRS/AASB and can discuss technical matters in this regard
  • Knowledge of CCH Integrator and ERP (e.g. SAP or Oracle) is desirable although not essential.
  • Must be a team player and able to communicate effectively to deliver and hold the company position in relation to tax advice/compliance matters
  • Commitment to collaboration and to team work
