Area Foreman – SE Saskatchewan (Multiple Positions)
 

Vermilion has an excellent opportunities for multiple Area Foreman positions.  Working in an area Southeast of Estevan, the Area Foreman will be responsible to develop, instill and maintain the safe and competent operation of all facilities and the wells associated with these facilities. This role will provide guidance/support to all operational staff, with respect to safe and efficient operating practices, as well as working closely and fostering effective relationships with the operations teams.  This Southeast Saskatchewan field based position will be responsible for HSE, production, operations, and maintenance. This role will be accessible 24 hours/day in order to provide emergency/operational support. Vermilion's On-Site/Off-Site Emergency Response Commander/Manager.


Key Responsibilities

  • Abide by the terms of employment in Vermilion HSE "Policy Manuals"; ensure Vermilion's safety and environmental standards are adhered to and regulatory requirements are met through regular site inspections/visitations of facilities/wells within their area of responsibility.
  • Align work with Vermilion goals and business objectives through achieving production, maintenance, operating cost, and HSE targets as assigned by the Director, Field Operations.
  • In collaboration with the Director, Field Operations, coordinate and develop operator training and development programs including SOLIS, regulatory training requirements and competency evaluation. Attraction, retention and succession planning are also required.
  • Participate in strategic planning with the Director, Field Operations & Engineering through the preparation and close monitoring of the annual operating and maintenance budgets, taking steps to ensuring business sustainability.
  • Establish employee objectives and routinely monitor performance. Objectives should have a clear line of sight to the department's business plan.
  • Constantly strive to make Vermilion more profitable by:
  • Minimizing operating costs and production
  • Developing and propose innovative plans on how to improve efficiency of production operations
  • Take all appropriate measures to prevent harm to people, wells, equipment, environment, and property.
  • Instruct operational staff, with respect to routine inspection, adjustment, and optimization of all facilities and wells, in addition to starting all wells after workovers or stimulations, and provide initial production targets (as agreed by the Director, Field Operations & Engineering).
  • Monitor operating parameters and production volumes from all the facilities and wells, and insure adequate/accurate entry into the production accounting software.
  • Routinely monitor test measurement of gas, condensate/oil and water production for all assigned facilities and wells.
  • Monitor/guide regular preventative maintenance of all equipment, as implemented by the Maintenance Planner through the preventative maintenance software.
  • Coordinate facility/well optimization programs with the Director, Field Operations & Engineering.
  • In collaboration with the Director, Field Operations, prepare district weekly and monthly production report including well variances, as well as monthly OPEX accruals including justification and budget performance variance details.
  • Develop and execute community investment strategy for the area.
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Director, Field Operations.

Essential Experience & Skills

  • 10+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Experience with Operator Competency programs.
  • Demonstrated record of success in a leadership role managing employees, contractors, vendors and managing service companies with a proven track record of managing high performance teams with a strong HSE culture
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, leadership and critical analysis skills, with the ability to work in a collaborative manner with diverse groups of individuals
  • Ability to influence the HSE culture across all levels of the organization
  • Results oriented individual with the ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Ability to work independently
