Job Description
Coordinates MPC’s annual and midyear budget processes, including providing guidance to departmental budget coordinators throughout the company.
Develops and monitors annual budgets for the offices of the Chairman & CEO, Executive Vice Chairman, President – Refining, Marketing & Supply and Sr VP &CFO.
Compiles Finance & Accounting’s (F&A) capital, expense, and headcount budgets annually.
Compiles Total MPC Capital, Expense, and Headcount annual budgets into presentation material for executive management, Investor Relations, and Board of Directors review and approval.
Develops annual budget guidelines and instructions, PowerPoint and Excel templates for all organizations’ managers and budget coordinators’ use and submission for the annual budget.
Coordinates with MPLX Business Performance Analysis department to ensure alignment.
Abides and enforces policy #3001, Planning and Authorization of Facilities and Services; Interests in Other Entities. Activities include facilitating corporate shift letters, reviewing Authorization Requests, and ensuring the appropriate projects are presented to the Board of Directors for their approval at appropriate times.
Consults with executive management on annual Midyear Review. Create instructions and PowerPoint templates for all organizations’ management and budget coordinators to complete and submit. Create presentation material for executive Midyear Review meeting.
Instructs and collects actuals from all organizations in order to create the final Approved budget book.
Monitors expense budgets as requested by senior management. Understand the different attributes associated with expenses such as SG&A vs. Operating, Controllable vs. Non-Controllable, and expense categories that would need to be cut if budget cuts are introduced.
Serves as a resource for other departments to answer budget related inquiries, audits, and special projects.
Acts as a vital team member within BP&A-Financial, Forecasting and Budgeting in completing the monthly S&D forecast and/or annual Business Plan.
