Senior Petroleum Engineer

Based in the Denver office and reporting to the Managing Director, US Business Unit, the Senior Petroleum Engineer will be responsible for exploiting our existing asset base, including optimizing development plans and execution methods, identifying growth opportunities in areas we operate, and supporting the team’s engineering and economic evaluation of acquisition opportunities across the US. Liaising across other technical disciplines, the key objective is to increase shareholder value by delivering capital efficient production and free cash flow growth. Key Responsibilities
Provide reservoir, production, and completion engineering support for new US Business Unit.
Evaluate Vermilion’s existing assets for development opportunities and provide recommendations that enhance resource, production, and completion methods.
Work closely with other team members to optimize field development strategy and maximize value.
Monitor competitor and analog activity surrounding existing assets to identify new opportunities and technology enhancements.
Provide engineering and evaluation support for US acquisition opportunities.
Apply previous oil and gas asset evaluation experience to the assessment of acquisition opportunities and the preparation of associated business proposals including risk assessment and economic evaluations.
Prepare and deliver presentations to management regarding development and acquisition opportunities.
Participate in Vermilion’s Health, Safety and Environmental program.
Essential Experience & Skills
Minimum of 8 years related experience in reservoir/production engineering, and engineering economic evaluations.
Demonstrated ability to produce results that meet company goals and make economic recommendations with a positive financial impact.
Ability to work in a team atmosphere and fast paced environment with multiple on-going projects.
Highly organized, results oriented, not afraid to take initiative and have a willingness to learn.
Strong communication skills including written, verbal, and management presentations.
Proficient with industry standard software and specifically ARIES is required.
Must be able to work collaboratively in large, multi-disciplinary teams
Detail oriented, logic based decision making, critical thinking, adaptable to change, project management and ability to manage multiple priorities
Strategic thinker with exemplary analytical and problem solving skills and capacity to identify information and resources needed to complete tasks

B.Sc. in Engineering
