Asset Team Lead - South East Saskatchewan Area (Oungre)

Vermilion has an excellent opportunity for a Team Lead of the Oungre Asset team. Based in Calgary, this position will report to the Manager Saskatchewan/Manitoba. This position is a key member of the Canada Business Unit and will be responsible for the technical leadership of the Oungre area team in order to manage base production, develop assets and support growth opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate (identify, rank, execute and track) the capital and production budget process for the Oungre areaÂ
Monitoring and implementation of waterflood and EOR related activities in both operated and non-operated properties
Generate and evaluate recompletion and drilling opportunities including productivity, reserves, costs, timing, risk, partner issues, marketing and economics
Ensure all projects have the appropriate approvals in place for execution
Initiate, monitor and optimize the depletion strategies of the assets; seek exec alignment each year on key developments
Apply expertise to the evaluation of acquisition and divestiture opportunities including business proposals and economic evaluations that incorporate an understanding of taxes, royalties, joint venture deal terms and other related consideration
Source and evaluate other opportunities in the geographical area of responsibility and make recommendations regarding opportunity capture or further review by the appropriate team
Provide recommendations on completion, re-completion and optimization of existing wells
Manage base volumes with the goal of improving well performance, minimizing downtime and protecting equipment
Identify and implement CAPEX and OPEX cost improvements
Coordinate with the Operations and Facilities Teams to optimize short and long term infrastructure needs (tie-in routes, gathering systems, compression, dehydration, etc.)
Coordinate with the D&C Teams ideas to improve productivity and/or reduce cost and risk for the CBU
Maintain close working relationship with partners to ensure we are aware of and influence their programs
Monitor competitor activity and ensure aware of industry trends
Complete quarterly KPI reviews
Estimate, maintain and ensure the accuracy and integrity of corporate reserves across Vermilion’s Oungre asset base
Conduct presentations to executive management, partners, and government bodies as required
Coordinate with the Land Team recommendations regarding land postings and bid levels; proactively assess expiring lands recommending lease/title extensions as required and recommend lands for farm-out, where appropriate
Approve staff vacation, absences and schedules
Approve staff attendance of external / internal courses, conferences, etc.
Champion Vermilion’s Health, Safety and Environmental program at the team and extended team level
Leader Responsibilities:
Direct Team daily work activities and provide ongoing feedback & recognition
Provide technical leadership to the Team with the intent of meeting/exceeding objectives
Monitor Team work progress and performance and communicate status to the ManagerÂ
Coordinate Team meetings in the Calgary office and field as required
Be the primary external and internal contact for the Team
Identify resource constraints and work with the Manager to source additional external help when necessary
Coordinate team and individual objectives, performance ratings and areas for personal development
Ensure team members roles and responsibilities are well understood
Implement ideas to improve team effectiveness
Role model and encourage the Vermilion culture and values within the team
Elevate performance issues and discuss recommendations with ManagerÂ
Essential Experience & Skills
Minimum of 15+ years relevant petroleum industry experience, with a strong Exploitation background
Experience leading an asset based team is a preferable
Reservoir and waterflood experience would be a significant asset
Strong understanding of petroleum economics and valuation techniques
Must be able to work collaboratively in large, multi-disciplinary teams
Professional, team player with strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop and maintain partnerships
Detail oriented, logic based decision making, critical thinking, adaptable to change, and ability to manage multiple priorities
Effective verbal and written communication skills with acute attention to detail
Strategic thinker with exemplary analytical and problem solving skills and capacity to identify information and resources needed to complete tasks
Exceptional organizational and time management skills, ability to multi-task and manage priorities in a deadline driven environment
Software experience in Mosaic, Val Nav, Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint
Education
Bachelor Science in Engineering or Degree in Engineering Technology
