Environmental Coordinator

Based in the Calgary office, this position will report directly to the HSE Manager, Canada Business Unit (CBU). The position will be responsible for environmental advisory for the CBU Operations, including Drilling and Completions, Facilities Engineering (Construction) and Production Operations. This position will include oversight, project management and administration of the Canadian environmental (assessment, remediation, reclamation) portfolio, liability management, coordinating responses to provincial and federal regulatory programs (e.g. waste, emissions, etc.), coordination of spill response activities and the design, implementation and administration of environmental and sustainability programs for Vermilion’s Canadian Business Unit. The successful candidate will provide technical guidance and support to field and operations teams and will also work closely with the Canada Business Unit field leadership team, to ensure top tier HSE and regulatory compliance and stewardship continues to be achieved.
Key Responsibilities
Conducting field environmental evaluations
Advise on environmental remediation projects in the CBU
Manage the environmental portfolio for the CBU including providing review of consultant reporting, identifying appropriate scopes for environmental work, and managing consultant work within approved budgets
Preparation and distribution of internal environmental alerts, memos and correspondence
Manage regulatory requirements and programs including
Greenhouse Gas Emissions (GHG)
Fugitive Emissions program
Non-Pollutant Regulatory Index (NPRI)
Interact with provincial and federal regulatory bodies to proactively manage risk to the CBU and Vermilion
Manage regulatory Inspection and Investigation tracking
Data entry and submission into AER and ECON reporting systems
Various annual regulatory reporting
Support the Waste Management program
Create and deliver Environment and Regulatory training materials and presentations
Prepare Abandonment and Reclamation Liabilities Summary for Acquisition/Divestiture
Essential Experience & Skills
Minimum 10 years Oil and gas industry experience in the operational HSE aspects of the oil and gas industry including environmental assessments
Oil & gas experience in Drilling, Completions and/or Production Operations
Excellent working knowledge of industry regulations, standards and practices relevant to Canadian operations
Strong computer software skills including Word, Excel, and Outlook
Attention to detail, excellent organization and analytical skills
Professional, team player with strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop and maintain partnerships
Exceptional organizational and time management skills, ability to multi-task and manage priorities in a deadline driven environment
Education
Technical Diploma or Applied Degree/Bachelor of Science with a focus in Environmental Sciences
Member in good standing with either AIA or APEGA
