Tax & Royalty Accountant Job

Eligibility

• Degree: Bachelors degree in Accounting/Finance strongly preferred
• Computer Proficiencies: SAP PRA or equivalent revenue systems and Excel
• Work Experience: 5+ years O&G experience required with tax and royalty focus.  Experience in Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and North Dakota is a plus.

 Overview

The role is within the Tax & Royalty Accounting team and will be responsible for tax and royalty disbursements and filings and analysis for the Company’s US assets.  This position will interface regularly with Revenue Accounting, Production Reporting, Land and Legal. The contractor will need to demonstrate strong problem solving, organizational, communication, and collaboration skills and a high level of initiative.

 Responsibilities

• Record, pay and file tax and royalty reports for more complex areas for assigned area of responsibility accurately and timely.
• Understand the field setup and flow and revenue bookings that flow into the tax and royalty reports.
• Maintain tax and royalty account balances and actively work outstanding balances.
• Prepare monthly balance sheet reconcilements.
• Book monthly tax and royalty related accruals.
• Assist in monthly analysis and explaining variances.
• Possess superior knowledge and understanding of tax and royalty regulations and stay abreast of new regulations.
• Ensure timely filing of required reporting.
• Maintain positive working relationships with the tax and royalty regulatory agencies.
• Work with Supervisor and Lead Accountants on complex tasks and projects. 
• Provide data for audits, litigation and acquisition and disposition requests.
• Interact with other departmental personnel to improve departmental communication.
• Possess strong knowledge of tax and royalty reporting and share that knowledge with others.
