BASIC ACCOUNTABILITY

The Automation Technologist, under general supervision, is responsible for performing moderately complex tasks related to supporting device integration into Automation applications for respective business units as well as maintaining the Automation system.  This position focuses on providing support relating to either Automation software (Field) or Automation hardware (Corporate).

 

EDUCATION

High school diploma or equivalent; associates' degree in relevant field is preferred

 

EXPERIENCE

Requires a minimum of 3 years of related industry experience in Process Control device integration

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Field

  • Provide support to Automation host systems including ongoing maintenance
  • Conduct data analysis, database updates, system uptime and point to point checkout and documentation
  • Perform device set up and provide access to field personnel
  • Troubleshoot alarms and hardware failures
  • Provide daily Automation host and communication technical support, guidance and expertise to operation
  • Maintain the local historical data and other records as needed
  • Support and repair data quality issues at the business unit level

 

Corporate

  • Work with operations, facilities engineering, and the local automation team to define and safely implement field automation solutions  
  • Facilitate and drive automation projects to successful completion, including the design and implementation of automation pilot projects 
  • Develop and implement automation guidelines (equipment, operation documentation, training, etc.)
  • Work with field operations to support field automation
  • Seek out opportunities where automation can add value to the enterprise and assists with developing the business value assessment around these opportunities
  • Work with the automation team to identify strategic automation opportunities
  • Provide automation support to the Decision Support Center’s (DSC)
