BASIC ACCOUNTABILITY

Tax professional working under immediate or general supervision to facilitate the U.S. income tax filing requirements of our domestic and international operations.  This role offers a diverse set of tax responsibilities, including the preparation of U.S. Federal and state income tax returns, depreciation calculations, provision, and other special projects related to large corporate income tax returns.

 

EDUCATION

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Accounting

 

EXPERIENCE

1-2 years of experience in income tax required, 3-5 years preferred

Certified Public Accountant preferred

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with the preparation of income tax returns, including preparation of various detail work papers and schedules to support the return
  • Analyze financial and tax information in order to properly calculate tax depreciation, depletion, and amortization on Devon’s assets
  • Become proficient in Devon’s financial reporting systems in order to gather data related to issues affecting income tax returns
  • Analyze and reconcile tax accounts on the general ledger
  • Perform income tax research and develop conclusions on issues raised on special projects assigned from time to time

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • High working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of products
  • Exposure to SAP, tax research software, and OneSource preferred
  • Self motivated with ability to take a project from beginning to end with some direction or preferrable independtly
  • Seeks and accepts accountability and empowerment to efficiently execute on assignments
  • Effectively presents ideas and information clearly and concisely in a variety of settings
  • Exhibits effective interpersonal skills to collaborate work within a team to achieve objectives
  • Strong organization and analytical skills
  • Identifies routine problems of limited scope and identifies solutions based on training and experience
