Asset Integrity Engineer

Devon Canada has an opportunity for an Asset Integrity Engineer to join our team. Reporting to the Chief Inspector & Sr. Supervisor Asset Integrity you will be an integral part of the Asset Integrity team providing direct support and technical expertise to Devon related to pipeline integrity management.

This role is based at our Calgary Corporate Office. Field travel may be required from time to time for this role.

Performance Objectives:

  • Work and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to achieve asset integrity management goals
  • Raise awareness of pipeline integrity issues through formal and informal communication
  • Develop pipeline integrity management strategies and evaluate their effectiveness
  • Analyze pipeline integrity risk trends and define ways to proactively manage emerging threats
  • Interface with regulatory bodies and vendors
  • Actively support and participate in Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) programs
  • Act as Devon representative on external industry associations

Additional Requirements:

The successful candidate must:

  • Have an Engineering Degree in Materials or Mechanical Engineering
  • Have 7-10 years’ experience
  • Be registered as a Professional Engineer in Alberta
  • Be an energetic self-starter with excellent analytical skills and a practical problem solver
  • Have excellent verbal and communication skills
  • Have a solid understanding of the legislation plus the adopted codes and standards that govern pipelines in the Province of Alberta
  • Have knowledge and experience applying risk assessment methods
  • Have knowledge of mitigation, monitoring and inspection methods to manage pipeline integrity risks
  • Be proficient in the use of MS Office Suite/Office 365, SAP, and inspection data management systems (IDMS)

Preference will be given to candidates that possess one (or more) of the following:

  • Asset integrity management experience
  • Steam assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) experience
  • Knowledge and experience in using risk-based inspection (RBI) software packages
  • Knowledge and experience in using geographic information system (GIS) mapping applications
  • API 510 Pressure Vessel Inspector and/or National Board In-Service Inspector certification
  • API 570 Piping Inspector certification
  • NACE certification
  • A working knowledge of the legislation plus the adopted codes and standards that govern pressure equipment and storage tanks in the Province of Alberta
