Job Description:

Chevron Australia has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Rotating Equipment Engineer to join the Rotating Equipment Technical team. Reporting to the Rotating Equipment Technical Team Lead, this permanent role will be based in Perth with occasional travel to site as needed.

 

Key responsibilities:
 

  • Provide liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant-wide oversight and co-ordination across all rotating equipment work scopes applicable to assigned area of responsibility
  • Provide direct specialist technical support in the operation and maintenance of rotating equipment
  • Develop and / or endorse procedures, maintenance and inspection strategies for rotating equipment
  • Provide rotating equipment engineering support at site during turnaround events
  • Develop and maintain machinery predictive maintenance toolsets to support operational maintenance strategies
  • Provide troubleshooting and diagnostic expertise to operational equipment
  • Define the scope of work to identify and rectify rotating equipment deficiencies, and drive execution to completion
  • Drive reliability improvements across the rotating equipment fleet, through the application of design improvements or new technologies
  • Lead and implement changes to equipment whilst adhering to the management of change (MoC) process. Act as MoC owner as required
  • Provide guidance and experience to assist engineering, operations, and maintenance leaders in diagnosing and correcting operating problems associated with plant-wide rotating equipment
  • Review changes in upstream and downstream testing procedures, start-up and operations procedures
  • Provide technical mentoring within the Rotating Equipment Technical team as well as externally to the LNG Operations - Production and Maintenance team and Technical Function. Provide technical training as necessary to support operations
  • Commitment to health, environment and safety and Chevron best practices.

 

Key skills and experience required:
 

  • Minimum of bachelor’s in engineering degree
  • Minimum of 10 years relevant experience providing technical engineering support of rotating equipment in a complex oil and gas operating environment
  • Strong experience with gas turbines in compressor drive service is essential.  Experience with GE Frame 7 and 9 gas turbines is preferred
  • Ability to lead and co-ordinate technical troubleshooting efforts and work with cross functional teams
  • Ability to oversee and co-ordinate all rotating equipment issues across assigned area of responsibility
  • Sound knowledge and significant experience with gas turbines, centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, and pumps, including technical troubleshooting, condition monitoring and implementation of changes to these equipment types
  • Experience in operations / maintenance support roles with extensive site-based experience
  • Familiar with technical integrity principles and operating acceptance criteria for rotating equipment, and understanding of integrity / reliability risks to enable appropriate decisions to be made
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are essential
  • Practical working knowledge of relevant Western Australian codes and standards. Familiarity with relevant Australian Standards is desirable
  • Creative thinking and can-do mindset to facilitate solutions in the field
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and build key relationships that contribute to high-class business results
